What Are the Different Types of Recruiters? A recruiter is a professional who sources, interviews, and recruits professionals to fill open positions. Recruiters may be corporate or in-house, or they may work for a third-party agency. An in-house or corporate recruiter is usually a full-time employee of a large company which has many hiring needs. These recruiters focus exclusively on filling jobs for their employer. Depending on their industry, they may work with a more limited range of jobs than an external recruiter, but will usually become experts at identifying the skills their company is looking for. An external recruiter works for a third-party staffing or recruiting agency. They are hired by clients (usually companies) to find the best candidates for specific jobs. Because they work with many different clients, external recruiters will often have a wide range of experience and contacts in many industries. While some external recruiters are retained on contract with clients, many are contingency-based, which means they only get paid if the client hires their candidate. This can lead to multiple agencies competing to fill the same position, with the successful recruiter receiving a commission from the placement. Recruiters may also specialize in a particular industry or sector, such as executive or technology recruiters. Are you looking for a recruiter? Look no further!
