What Do I Need to Know Before a Job Fair? Before you head to a job fair, there are a few things you should keep in mind. First, review the employers and make a list of those you want to visit. Register in advance and submit your resume so all the employers have it, even if you don't have time to stop by their booth. You never know what jobs may open in the future, including from employers you didn't expect, and recruiters have connections with companies who aren't at the fair. You won't have a lot of time with any one employer, so prepare an elevator pitch. Some employers will do on-the-spot interviews with strong candidates, so be prepared to answer common interview questions, and have a few questions of your own ready to assess whether an employer or position might be a good fit for you. Be friendly, professional, and positive. First impressions matter, so make sure you're making a good one from the moment you walk in the door. Greet everyone you meet with a smile and remember to thank them for their time before you move on. If you have a good conversation with an employer, make sure you get their business card and follow up with them afterwards. Finally, it's important to remember that job fairs can be overwhelming. There will likely be a lot of people there, and you might feel like you're being bombarded with information. Just stay calm and focused, and you'll be sure to make a good impression.
