The Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation Program (PEUC) provides 53 weeks of additional benefits. It went into effect April 5, 2020 and expires the week ending September 5, 2021. The Extended Benefits Program (EB) went into effect the week ending July 5, 2020. Traditional Unemployment Insurance lasts for 26 weeks. As of January 2021, PEUC offers 53 weeks of additional benefits and EB offers either 13 or 20 weeks of additional benefits on top of the weeks of PEUC benefits, depending on New York State’s unemployment rate. Any New Yorker who is still unemployed and unable to find a job will no longer be able to apply for these extended unemployment benefits. Please Start Looking for Work - the deadline is upon us all!
