WHY MODERN VISION SOLUTIONS?

Do we really need another glasses and contacts place? No.
Which is why we built Modern Vision Solutions.

Our Story

Being able to experience crisp, clear vision is truly transformational. But the old way of “going to the eye doctor” just doesn’t cut it anymore. We asked patients, “If you could wave a magic wand, how would you change the experience at the eye doctor?” This is what they told us:

·         Air Puffs: “Oh my gosh, I hate that air puff thing. Can we just NOT do that?”

·         Dilation: “I go to the eye doctor, then my entire day is shot because my eyes are dilated for hours and hours.”

·         Wait Times: “I’m over waiting rooms. Last time I went to the eye doctor, I waited over 30 minutes for the appointment to start. Why?”

·         Scheduling Delays: “I call for an appointment, and they can’t accommodate my schedule for almost a month. I need my prescription NOW. Super inconvenient.”

·         Lack of Control: “I feel like I’m on a hamster wheel. I go in, get my prescription, get new contacts that I don’t really like, and wait another 12 months to do it all over again. I feel totally powerless to actually fix my bad vision.”

·         Do I have other options? “Do I qualify for LASIK? What about another type of procedure? Do you guys know how to check if I’m a candidate? Can we even talk about it?”

OPTOMETRY OMAHA

We think there’s a better way. No air puffs. No wait times. No long delays until you can schedule. No dilation (unless it’s absolutely necessary, which it often is not). And best of all, access to ALL the modern ways to correct your vision – performance glasses, advanced contact lenses, and even vision correction procedures if you qualify.

At Modern Vision Solutions - Eye Care Omaha, we help our patients achieve the freedom that clear vision can provide. We do this through an unparalleled patient experience and world-class, lifelong vision care.

When we partner with a patient for their eye health and vision needs, our patient’s priorities become our priorities.

We get to know our patients’ stories, and customize a vision correction solution around their hobbies, dreams, and job requirements. You deserve to live a lifestyle free from visual barriers.

Our patients are not limited to glasses and contact lens options for temporary correction of their bad vision. In fact, laser vision correction is an excellent solution with proven outcomes for those who qualify. Surgical vision correction allows our patients to live a life of freedom and convenience, and without prosthetic vision aids. If you’re interested in exploring LASIK or other advanced vision correction procedures, we’re happy to discuss these options with you.

EYE EXAMS

(The Most Thorough of Your Life)

Your eyes are your most precious sense, and every person’s eyes are as unique as their fingerprints.

So why settle for a normal, run-of-the-mill eye exam when you actually need something much more in-depth? Our VisionTrack EyeAnalysis exam is the most thorough eye exam available in Omaha. Why is that important? So we can determine exactly what you need to see clearly now and in the future.

DESIGNER FRAMES AND LENSES

When it comes to choosing your frames and lenses for your prescription glasses, it needs to be about you. At Modern Vision Solutions, you’ll discover a range of options we can tailor to your vision needs as well as your tastes in fashion.

Whether you need glasses designed for reading, driving, night vision, general day-to-day use, athletic performance or a specialized career, our eyeglasses specialists at Modern Vision Solutions have you covered.

Yes, we have many options. But no need to feel overwhelmed! Once we’ve completed your EyeAnalysis appointment, Dr. Anderson will meet with you to discuss which of our many specialized eyeglass lenses will best suit your vision and lifestyle. We can then work with you to determine the type and style of frame to suit your preferences.

CONTACT LENS FITTINGS

Daily disposables, extended wear, gas permeable, toric, scleral… It can be hard to keep track of all the different types of contact lenses available, not to mention all the different brands.

For many, contact lenses are a good short-term solution to poor vision. That is, as long as the right type of contact lenses are being prescribed. As part of our VisionTrack EyeAnalysis exam, we conduct multiple scans on the size, shape and surface of your cornea (the outermost surface of the eye). This allows our Contact Lens Specialist to recommend the ideal contact lens for you.

PERFORMANCE EYEWEAR

At Modern Vision Solutions, we focus on helping each of our patients perform their best. For some, especially our younger patients, this means performance on the court, field or track.

Which is why our Modern Vision Solutions Performance Team offers a wide selection of customized Performance Eyewear designed for athletes of all ages who play a wide range of sports.

Whether you need prescription sports goggles, prescription sunglasses or even just rugged glasses that can take a beating, the Modern Vision Solutions Performance Team has you covered.

VISION CORRECTION TREATMENT

Many of our patients are eager to switch from temporary glasses and contacts to a more permanent vision correction solution, like LASIK.

Prior to your EyeAnalysis exam, we will ask if you are interested to know your LASIK candidacy. If so, we will gather the additional data points necessary to determine if you qualify for LASIK or one of 6 other advanced FDA-approved vision correction procedures.

We include this as a courtesy to our patients. It will cost you nothing, but the knowledge you gain from it could open your eyes to a whole new opportunity of life with crisp, clear vision after LASIK.

CONTACT LENS INTOLERANCE

Contact Lens Intolerance and What to Do About It

Individuals who have common refractive errors such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism often rely on wearing prescription contact lenses to provide them clearer vision. Prescriptions are effective short-term solutions to refractive errors; however, the introduction of a foreign object or material to the body is almost never without some degree of risk.

The use of contact lenses – in particular, long-term, regular contact lens wear – can result in a dangerous condition known as Contact Lens Intolerance, or CLI.

Contact Lens Intolerance (CLI): the point at which the eye can no longer tolerate a contact lens that has long been in place and comes to “reject” the foreign body for a variety of reasons.

CLI is an extremely common side effect of contact lens use. In fact, most of the 41 million contact lens wearers in the United States have experienced some form of contact lens intolerance.

To keep eyes healthy and sharp, learn to recognize the signs early. Then work with your eye doctor on safe, comfortable long-term solutions. Read on to learn what to look for and what to do about it.

What are the symptoms of Contact Lens Intolerance?

With CLI, contact lens users may find they can no longer apply contacts or wear them for any length of time without pain, discomfort or injury.

Mild symptoms of CLI include:

·         Dryness

·         Burning

·         Stinging

·         Grittiness

·         Irritation

·         Inflammation

·         Redness

In serious cases, CLI can result in infections, or even corneal abrasions and ulcers.

What causes CLI?

Contact Lens Intolerance has a number of common causes. For some, their eyes may develop intolerance to the material that makes up the contacts or to contact lens cleaning solutions. Data from a recent CDC survey indicates widespread improper contact lens use can lead to bacteria or fungus on the contact lenses, and this can lead to irritation.

The study found more than 99 percent of the respondents reported at least one risky contact lens behavior, such as overuse or poor contact lens hygiene. What’s more, 50 percent reported that they wore their contact lenses while sleeping.

Other contributing factors to CLI include:

·         Dry eye

·         Eye allergies

·         Contact lenses that do not fit properly

·         Overuse of contacts

·         Poor contact lens hygiene

With the prevalence of these contributing factors in society, contact lens intolerance continues to increase.

Can CLI be cured?

At Modern Vision Solutions, patients undergo a series of in-depth diagnostics to determine the ideal approach to address your CLI. We can treat the symptoms of CLI and help determine and possibly avoid what triggered it in the first place.

After CLI is maximally treated, you may be able to return to contacts, or consider upgrading to a more natural solution such as vision correction procedure.

Remember, red, irritated eyes, ongoing dry eye symptoms, pain and swelling are not normal and shouldn’t be ignored. If you experience any of these symptoms, you may be contact lens intolerant. We invite you to come in for a thorough eye evaluation to find out. Our team will work with you on alternative vision correction options that are best for you, your eye health, and vision.

MYOPIA CONTROL

Helping Your Children Win Against the Near-Vision Epidemic

Screens, screens everywhere. In the entertainment centers of our homes, on our desks, in our backpacks and in our pockets.

Screens play a central role in our daily lives – they allow us to connect with friends and family, work, do school lessons, and be entertained. But for the many benefits screens afford us, they do have a drawback – the effect they have on our vision.

“Myopia” is the scientific term for nearsightedness. And due in part to screen use, along with other factors, Myopia is on the rise worldwide at an unprecedented rate.

In fact, here’s a TedTalk from local ophthalmologist Lance Kugler, MD, discussing the alarming rise of myopia.

Startling Facts About Myopia:

·         More than 4 out of 10 Americans ages 12-54 are now nearsighted.

·         Based on the current rise of myopia, half the world’s population will be myopic by the year 2050

·         A child with 1 nearsighted parent is 3 times as likely to develop nearsightedness, and that likelihood doubles if both parents are nearsighted.

·         Data shows those with myopia have double the risk of developing cataracts, retinal detachment or glaucoma.

·         Left to natural development, children who are nearsighted almost always become more nearsighted over time.

The good news: with proper tracking and management, we can actually slow the progression of myopia in children.

Myopia Control is the process by which we slow the development of myopia to reduce the ongoing development of nearsightedness.

Take our short (less than 2 minutes!) quiz to learn about your child’s risk for myopia, or if their nearsightedness could worsen.

Myopia Control at Modern Vision Solutions

Our doctors understand the importance of managing and reducing the development of nearsightedness in our youth.

We’ve designed our EyeAnalysis exam in large part to serve our younger patients who need Myopia Control. Through a series of scans and data mapping, we’re able to see the progress of Myopia. Using this information, our Myopia Specialists can then prescribe vision correction solutions and environmental adjustments to lessen the development of Myopia. Myopia Control treatments may include specific types of contact lenses, supplements or even specialty eye drops.

What About Nearsighted Adults?

Many of our young patients “inherited” myopia from their nearsighted parents. (Thanks, Mother Nature!). We’re often asked, “What additional options does MVS offer for parents with myopia?”

Unfortunately, myopia cannot be reversed. But for adults with stable vision who are nearsighted, Modern LASIK or another advanced vision correction procedure offer a more permanent solution to myopia.
