Does Direct Hire Mean No Interview? Direct hire usually does not mean there will be no interview. Direct hire refers to the process of being hired directly by a company rather than going through a staffing agency or other third party. This is in contrast to a temporary or temporary-to-hire role, in which your employer is the staffing agency but you work on site for one of their clients. While many companies still use staffing agencies to help them find candidates for their direct hire roles, the job they are offering is a permanent position at their company, meaning the new employee will be added to their payroll and entitled to all the usual benefits the company offers. Most companies will always conduct interviews before directly hiring someone, although the process may be streamlined if the candidate is coming from a staffing agency that the company has worked with before and trusts. The interviews give the company a chance to get to know the candidate and ensure that they are a good fit. They also give the candidate an opportunity to ask any questions they have about the company or position before making a decision to accept the role. Although there may be some temporary or temp-to-hire roles which will not require an interview because the company trusts the staffing agency's judgement, it is very rare that you will be hired for a permanent role without being interviewed first.
