Should I Put My Temp Job on My Resume? When you're a job seeker, you may wonder whether or not to mention your temp job on your resume. On the one hand, it is unquestionably relevant experience that can highlight your qualities and skills. On the other hand, you may be concerned that you appear to be job-hopping. Although there may be times when omitting a short-term temp job that isn't relevant to the position you're applying for is preferable, most of the time including your temp work will provide a more accurate picture of your work history and highlight the skills and experience you gained while working as a temp. Temp work is becoming more widespread, so don't fall victim to the negative stereotype that employers believe you chose a temporary job because you couldn't find a "real" one. Your temporary job experience is valuable, especially if it is relevant to your professional aspirations, and having a temporary job is preferable to a gap in employment, which may prompt employers to question your work ethic. List temp jobs in chronological order as you would permanent jobs. If you worked multiple jobs for the same agency or did several similar temp jobs back-to-back, group them together. Include your tasks, skills you gained, systems/software you worked with, accomplishments, and so on. Looking for a temporary position? Check out the current openings at redShift!
