What are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is essentially a titanium screw that’s placed directly into your jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once the implant is in place, the surrounding bone will gradually fuse to it, creating a strong foundation for your replacement teeth.

To attach replacement teeth, each titanium screw has an internal screw, known as an abutment. A crown can then be fitted to the abutment or, alternatively, one implant may be used to support several replacement teeth. The number of implants required varies on individual circumstances and the dental implant technique used. However, whatever your circumstances, we’ll ensure your replacement teeth look, feel and function just like your natural teeth.

What are the Benefits of Dental Implants?

Dental implants are the only permanent solution for damaged or missing teeth. However, they also offer many other benefits over alternative procedures:

- Natural looking - as your implants will hold your replacement teeth firmly in place, no one will be able to tell they’re not your natural teeth.

- Comfortable - unlike dentures that can slip and cause pain and discomfort, dental implants are fixed firmly in place and feel just like your own.

- Supportive - dental implants work to preserve your jawbone by encouraging growth, protecting your surrounding teeth and restoring your facial aesthetics.

What is the All on 4 Technique?

All on 4 is an innovative dental implant technique which uses just four dental implants to support a full arch of lower or upper teeth. The technique is similar to that of standard dental implants in that titanium screws are placed into the jaw to replace the roots of missing teeth. However, for a full arch of teeth, up to eight implants can be needed and treatment can take up to a year. With All on 4, on the other hand, the implants are cleverly positioned to avoid areas of low bone density and offer the maximum possible torque. The result is a less invasive procedure that enables your replacement teeth to be attached almost immediately after your surgery.

While standard dental implants can require significant preliminary work and aren’t always feasible for all patients, All on 4 can change all of that. We frequently recommend the All on 4 technique to our patients and love being able to change their lives for the better.

The Stages of All on 4 Treatment

We pride ourselves on involving our patients at every stage of their treatment to ensure they are informed, calm and comfortable. There are five key stages to the All on 4 treatment:

1. Assessment - we offer every patient a complimentary consultation to assess their suitability. During the assessment, we find out what you'd like to achieve, review your medical history and take intricate x-rays, photos and videos of your mouth and jaw.

2. Planning - we use the detailed information we collected during your assessment along with advanced software to create a personalised treatment plan. We’ll then outline the details of your proposed treatment, timeline and cost so you can make a fully informed decision.

3. Treatment - you’ll be welcomed by your implant dentist and anaesthetist and we'll make sure you're comfortable before treatment begins. Then, in just a few short hours, your implant dentist will place your implants at the optimal angle for your replacement teeth.

4. Review - you’ll come back to the studio just a day or so after your surgery to have your new teeth securely fitted to your implants. We’ll make sure your teeth are perfectly aligned and will carefully examine their position, your bite and your smile and will ensure you’re happy with the results.

5. Aftercare - we’ll give you a guide of what to do to look after your new teeth while your mouth heels and your jawbone fuses to your implants. With a healthy diet, plenty of water, good oral hygiene and regular checkups, you’ll be smiling confidently for years to come.

What to Look for in an Implant Dentist

While there are many practices that offer dental implants as one of their services, not all implant dentists are created equally. The quality of the implant procedure you have can make a huge difference to the success of your treatment. When looking for an implant dentist, you should always consider the following key factors:

- The dentist’s credentials - it’s vital for dental surgeons to have completed the right training to ensure they can deliver the highest quality treatment.

- The dentist's experience - by choosing an implant dentist with significant experience, you know that they will have hands-on experience of a wide range of cases.

- The materials used - implant dentists should use high-quality materials that comply with safety and quality regulations.

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?

The cost of dental implants is dependent on a variety of factors, such as the number of implants that are required and whether any preliminary procedures are needed. The cost of a single implant varies considerably to full mouth implants or All on 4, which makes like-for-like comparisons difficult. What is important, however, is that you ensure you’re paying for the best quality service, materials, and, ultimately, results. However, the cost of a single implant alone can range from $5k-$6k.

What is the Cost of All on 4?

It’s not easy to compare costs for All on 4 treatment as there are several elements that influence prices. If you’ve been researching how much it costs, you may have noticed a discrepancy in prices with procedures ranging anywhere from $10,000 to $50,000. When considering costs, and choosing a dentist, the scope and type of treatment will have an influence, but so will the quality of the procedure. Many licensed dentists appear to have all the necessary qualifications. The All on 4 prices with Dr Spyrakis start from $18,998.
